Start your own off-grid solar power supply now with tested solar panels from Wattstunde. Conventional solar modules use copper connectors to link individual photovoltaic cells together. These thin cell connectors are eliminated in the unique shingle cell solar modules: instead of individual cells, narrow cell strips are used.
The mechanical connection with cell connectors is the (thermo)mechanical weak point of conventional solar modules and is absent in the BlackLine solar modules. The cells are interlocked similarly to roof shingles: the end of one cell is simply connected to the beginning of the next cells with a special polymer-based adhesive that is conductive due to metallic particles. This creates a unique parallel structure that allows for an unobstructed flow of energy.
This special design reduces the internal resistance of the solar module, thereby decreasing internal losses and increasing module performance. A space saving of up to 10% is possible, as the gaps between individual cells are eliminated.
