Victron Energy VE BP 220 - BatteryProtect, 12/24 V, 220 A

12/24 V automatic detection of the voltage range. The BatteryProtect automatically detects the system voltage.

Simple programming allows the BatteryProtect to be set to switch on or off at several different voltages. The seven-segment display indicates which setting has been selected.

There is a special setting for lithium-ion batteries, where the BatteryProtect can be controlled by the VE.Bus BMS. Note that the BatteryProtect can also be used as a charge breaker between a battery charger and a lithium-ion battery.

Extremely low power consumption is crucial for lithium-ion batteries, especially after disconnection due to a low voltage level. Please refer to the data sheet on lithium-ion batteries and the manual of the VE.Bus BMS for further information.

Overvoltage protection is included to prevent sensitive loads from being damaged by an overvoltage, as the load is always switched off when the DC voltage exceeds 16 V or 32 V.

Explosion protection is achieved through the use of MOSFET switches instead of relays, eliminating sparking.

The delayed alarm output is activated when the battery voltage drops below the preset value for more than 12 seconds, ensuring that starting the engine does not trigger the alarm. The alarm output is a short-circuit protected open collector output connected to the negative rail, with a maximum current of 50 mA. This output is typically used to activate an acoustic signal, an LED, or a relay.

Load disconnection and reconnection delays are also featured. The load is switched off 90 seconds after the alarm is activated. If the battery voltage rises within this time (for example, after the engine has started) back to the connection threshold, the load remains on. The load is reconnected 30 seconds after the battery voltage exceeds the predefined reconnection voltage value.
