External sound card for 7.1 USB audio adapter. The external 7.1 USB sound card/audio adapter from StarTech provides a high-quality solution for enhancing desktop or laptop sound. The USB sound card connects to a host computer via a single USB 2.0 port and offers an external audio device function that can switch between systems. It features full 7.1 audio outputs through 3.5mm mini jacks, optical S/PDIF input (pass-through) and output, dual microphone input, built-in volume control, and full-duplex recording and playback. It supports 44.1 kHz and 48 kHz sampling rates for analog playback and recording or 48 kHz for S/PDIF. The USB 2.0-compatible high-speed host interface provides data transfer rates of up to 480 Mbps. The external USB sound card includes an easy-to-use volume control and two external microphone inputs. It is an ideal solution for home theaters, gaming, or multimedia presentations. The external USB sound card is easy to install thanks to plug-and-play support in Windows XP and Windows Vista operating systems.
