WD My Book
24 TB
It has a white labelled WD inside, but the product code is from a WD Blue (8TB).
No, but the plate shuts down after a while and then no longer needs so much power. You can only switch it off completely by pulling the power cable.

To create partitions on an external hard drive, the drive does not necessarily need to be formatted, but it may be necessary to shrink an existing partition to create free space. If you have difficulty using the "shrink" option in Windows 11 Disk Management, it could be because the partition is not in NTFS format or because there are other restrictions. You can also use third-party software to make partitioning easier. Note that formatting a hard drive deletes all data stored on it, so you should back up important files beforehand.
Automatically generated from the .I have been making my regular (automatic) backups (daily/weekly/monthly) of all PC data with EaseUS Todo backup software on 3 WD MyBook for several years. I also make daily backups to the cloud (Backblaze). Works perfectly. As far as I know, no backup software is included.
The MyBooks from WD are also compatible with macOS, so this article would be suitable. You can also contact our customer service for product advice: https://helpcenter.galaxus.ch/hc/de/requests/new
We have no problems with the 4TB and 8TB hard drives. However, both drives get very warm when they are constantly in operation. That's why I set the hard drives so that they only run when they are accessed and then switch to sleep mode. The 8TB gets 60 degrees warm in continuous operation, the 4TB has a normal 46 degrees. Both of mine stay cool but sometimes take a while to start up when searching for a folder.
Hello! Quite hard to understand your question. I will try: This is not a standalone drive - it needs to be connected to a computer. What is "the software"? The WD-suite or your operating system or any other? Depending on your OS you may not need the WD-Software, it just adds some comfort. E.g. with Windows you can format, repartition and use the drive connected by USB as an internal drive by standard tools of Windows.
Hello, it comes with a Swiss plug
There is no switch. You have to pull the power plug.
If the whole hard disk has been activated for Time Machine, you can only use it for Time Machine. Solution. Partition the hard disk into two or more parts. Make several hard disks out of one according to popular size. One part is then only used for Time Machine. The other part(s) can be used as normal hard disks and then you can also create folders and copy data into them. Partitioning is done in the hard disk programme of your Mac or OSX operating system.
No idea, I don't use Xbox or PS5
No USB only.
The hard drive is for PC and Mac. It can also be used for both systems without formatting. I use it on a Mac.
You should normally be able to select Digitec Galaxus as a supplier via the "All suppliers" tab (under specifications). Also, the manufacturer's datasheet does not specify what type of drive this My Book is equipped with or whether the SATA interface is available. We are sorry about that. If we refer to the comments left by previous buyers: "It is a WD White labeled, but the product code is WD Blue...". For all intents and purposes, you can find the brand's contact information here: https://www.westerndigital.com/en-ie/company/contact-us
I assume you are referring to the .tibx format, because .tbix is unfortunately not known to me. The .tibx file is an image backup from the Acronis True Image software and it is not unusual that this file is about 50%-70% smaller (compressed) than the original data. Normally you should be able to view the image with the Acronis software, if this does not work, I recommend contacting Acronis support: https://www.acronis.com/de-de/company/#contacts
Compared to the other MyBook drives I have bought so far (10 x 8 TB, 2 x 10 TB, 3 x 14 TB), the 18 TB drive is definitely the loudest. You hear a clacking sound every now and then. The other drives also make a clacking noise, but it is much quieter.
This is "only" a typing error on Digitec's part. In Switzerland, dealers have a minimum warranty of 2 years, which Digitec probably also has as standard for all products in its shop. According to the terms and conditions, however, they also take over the warranty promised by the manufacturer if it is longer than the 2 years: "If the manufacturer's warranty exceeds the warranty of Digitec Galaxus or the dealer, Digitec Galaxus or the dealer shall also grant this to the customer" (source: digitec.ch/wiki/478). For exact answers you have to contact the customer service, here usually only the community answers.
I can definitely recommend WD. I have one that has been in service for 9 years. Just make sure there is enough air around the drive and that it is not sitting on anything warm. Heat is bad for hard drives. Seagate is also good. I haven't had a Toshiba that convinced me yet. They got too hot quickly and were louder than the competition.
I need the product with Mac OS Catalina, it has always worked over all the upgrades so far, can't imagine why it wouldn't anymore.
Yes, that works. I just had to format the hard disk accordingly on the Mac before using it for the first time.
If I have seen this correctly on the WD homepage, the power supply unit has 12 volts/1.5A. Then this one should work: Goobay 3 V - 12 V universal power supply 1.5A
Ok. Works well (so far). I am satisfied.
You can see from the price that it can't be an SSD and from the memory size.
The exFat theoretically allows file sizes of 16 Eio (2^64 bytes), not to be confused with the Fat32 which allows file sizes of up to 4go (2^32 bytes). So no worries about file size. Normally it is a 5400rpm, and in my opinion not a WD red but rather a blue (which was used in the old ones)
