Can beef fat be used with this deep fryer?

It simply heats up to 190 degrees. Should also work with the beef fat. However, it must be liquid and no longer hot to drain into the lower container. I have no idea whether the beef fat is then too viscous.

The main difference between the Tefal FR8041 and the previous FR8040 model lies in several key features: ## Automatische Ölfilterung - The FR8041 features automatische Ölfilterung technology, which allows the oil to be filtered and stored for reuse up to 8 times, which is not available on the FR8040. ## Construction and Material - The FR8041 has a propeller immersed in the oil, which allows rapid heating and optimum temperature control, reducing the amount of grease penetrating the food. The FR8040 does not have this specific feature. ## Control features - The FR8041 is equipped with a digital timer for precise cooking control, which is not mentioned for the FR8040. ## Design and Cleaning - The FR8041 can be completely disassembled and has dishwasher-safe parts (excluding the heating element), making it easy to clean. This feature is not specified for the FR8040. ## Accessories - The FR8041 includes a cooking lid with a metal odour filter and a viewing window, so you can keep an eye on the cooking in progress. There is no similar information for the FR8040. These differences show that the FR8041 offers significant improvements in terms of technology, control and ease of cleaning over the previous model.

I bought the small one first, but then it was too small - oh wonder :-). The larger one can certainly also be used with 2.5-3 litres. I recommend buying the larger one. As they are almost the same price. The larger one also has a timer.

I keep the oil tank on the basement shelf. I stuff some household paper into the opening, as it is usually still slightly wet with oil after the tank is removed and should not collect dust. Works wonderfully. The tank is not really airtight. Otherwise it would "collapse" after the oil has cooled down completely due to the negative pressure.
