Release date 5 May 2025 listed as new and price development from 12 January 2021 how does that work?
The product has actually been around for a very long time. However, we had removed it from the range for a while. Now that it is being offered again by a supplier and has therefore been relisted, this date can be seen. We regret the inconvenience, thank you for letting us know.

Yes, this player can play SACD, including the SACD layer of hybrid discs, not just the CD layer. SACD playback is possible on both analogue and HDMI outputs, depending on the configuration of your audio system.

The Sony UBP-X700 Blu-ray player supports various streaming services, including Netflix, Hulu, Vudu and Spotify. However, the Disney+ app is not available for Blu-ray disc players. Amazon Prime Video is not explicitly mentioned in the information provided, but it is possible that it is present as one of the available streaming apps on the device, as many Sony devices support Amazon Prime Video. Apps cannot be installed or removed; only the pre-installed apps can be used.
Automatically generated from the .Hi Toshio, you should only use an HDMI cable to connect the DVD player to your TV. Please use a premium high-speed HDMI cable or high-speed HDMI cable that supports 18 Gbps bandwidth. Please connect the HDMI cable from video/audio in the player to the HDMI IN input in the TV. You can find more information on our support page. Sony Europe
It already works. However, this is a 4k UHD Blue-Ray player which only makes sense with a corresponding 4k UHD/HDR TV and if you also want to watch 4k HDR Blue-Ray discs. For normal Blue-Ray and a Full-HD 3D TV, I would recommend the Sony BDP-S3700 or BDP-S6700.
Hello, nice question. But we only use it to play films and it's great for that. I have not yet found out about connection media.
Hello, Apparently not. According to Sony's FAQ's, this player only plays discs from the geographical area of sale.
...I've already played "everything" on this thing and couldn't tell any difference in quality between it and native K on my screen, better to ask Sony, sorry mfg.
Hello, I also have a Yamaha with optical and coaxial inputs. Unfortunately, the player does not have an optical output, so the only option is dig.coax. So it works for me. The prerequisite is of course that the DVD offers Dolby or DTS, then the system recognises it automatically if it is set up that way.
No
..... Unfortunately, I cannot answer this question, as I do not use wireless for qual. I do not use wireless for qual. reasons.
Hello, 1. yes theoretically; 2. yes Dolby Vision (firmware update necessary) and HDR10 are supported.
Unfortunately, no - at least not until now (and not with me). But you should be able to mirror the screen via the Miracast function. However, I have no idea how much quality loss this means... But my recommendation clearly goes in the direction of Apple TV 4K, Amazon Fire Stock (4K), or Chromecast (new 4K variant). It's worth it for Disney, as the streaming quality in terms of picture and sound is sensational.
The audio output of this unit is only via HDMI and coax. So you connect the player either via HDMI or coax to a TV or receiver and then from there to the desired output devices. I have connected mine via HDMI to the TV (Sony) and a Sonos Playbar is connected to it via an optical cable. Headphones (Bose QC 35) via Bluetooth from the TV also work. So connecting directly is not possible. https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/res/manuals/4698/7d50d915295c2a5698da607b669348d1/46984072M.pdf
This Sony UBP-X700 Blu-ray player is great and meets all expectations. We use it with an Ultra HD 4K OLED TV and it works perfectly. I'm a bit overwhelmed with all the playable formats, but in any case, the device also transmits the "Dolby Digital" audio format (according to the description).
Hello. Yes, the device has WiFi connection. More details on the Sony website: https://www.sony.ch/fr/electronics/lecteurs-blu-ray-disc/ubp-x700/specifications
The average time from clicking on the disk to playing the movie (from start or from the last position) is 15 sec. There is a memory function but I have the feeling that is not very deep. I noticed that, when switching disks, sometimes the player gets confused and starts at the position of another disk.
As far as I know, the television is responsible for this.
No, it is not. According to the community, it cannot be hacked without further ado. One possibility is to rip the U.S. discs on the PC and then play them from the hard drive directly on the player.
