Question about Sony Ubp-X700

Dear friends... thank you for your comments... unfortunately the model sold by Galaxus is not code free... on the net you can find the same model for about 100.- more expensive code free... Unfortunately I have several code 1 (USA) DVDs that I bought here in CH and would like to play... a conversion (chip installation) costs 250.- here in CH and therefore not profitable... a pity... otherwise a great Blu Ray player... The country code history should be clearly defined on the seller's webpage...

I don’t think it is code free!

the player is labelled with a region code on the back and will only play BD/DVDVIDEO with the same region code or a different symbol.

I have bought 2 devices, PC / office and living room, I am not aware of any adjustment of the various codes, but since I have already run various DVD / Blueray's from other countries, -which have worked- I cannot answer this with a ...........sicheren........... Codefree answer.

It should say on the packaging that I would buy it and otherwise return it. I have the device myself and am very satisfied. I would say it is code free in Switzerland. (This varies depending on the country)
