It could be that it is a lack of compatibility. My MacBook is a bit older (2016 or so) and has no problems with it. The hub doesn't hold 100% securely either, there can be wobbly contacts, so maybe that's contributing to the problem. Sorry I can't be of more help.
Unfortunately, the new MacBook Air is not yet available, so this cannot be said with certainty. It is best to ask the manufacturer directly. They may know more.

This is actually intended as a passthrough charging function so that a MacBook, for example, can still be charged.
With the appropriate cable, yes, but I couldn't find one at Digitec at the last minute.

According to the specifications, the "ASUS XU330UA" has a USB Type-C port, so I think it fits.
