The item is THX certified. The error should have been corrected within the next few days. Pre-out's are preamplifier outputs, i.e. you can connect individual power amplifiers to expand the system, this is needed if the amplifier power of the receiver is too weak.

Sorry for the English. Yes you can connect bi-amp. I have the Yamaha NS555 which support bi amp and you connect the low freq to the normal front and the high freq to the "Height" output (has bi-amp written on it). You can see a schema on page 30 of the file TX-NR696_En_2022-11-02-192920_laoa.pdf (just Google it) You then need to enable the bi-amp from the TX-NR696 menu

I couldn't answer whether Activities work, but I would recommend this Onkyo receiver, it is much better than the already very old TX-NR696 model. It also has 3 x 8K inputs, it costs a little more, but the equipment is much more extensive and the HDMI 2.1 interfaces are more future-proof. Onkyo TX-NR6100 (7.2 channel, FM, DAB+)

I have the av receiver as a 'central' one, which gives no or fewer problems. There are enough inputs. And this onkyo supports chronos by default, which is done via the menu. Chromecast is also built-in, but only sound. No picture?! The tongle then provides the remedy - gruz

No, it does not have DAB integrated (but you can certainly connect a corresponding device), but it does have USB (2.1), see specs here: https://eu.onkyo.com/de-AT/audio-hifi/amplifiers-receivers/av-receiver/tx-nr696/p/243982 LG

That may be the case with the insolvency, by the way, already in 2020, but there is nothing to stop us from making a good deal now. The products are absolutely top quality. Moreover, the shop was bought by Sharp and it is not yet certain whether Onkyo will disappear completely.

According to the operating instructions, this is the remote control: https://www.fernbedienung.com/hersteller/47-onkyo/978-rc-972r-onkyo-fernbedienung Unfortunately, I could not find any information about programmability among these details - I therefore assume that it is not programmable. 😥

I have connected my speakers via Surround BackZone 2 BiAmp (this is the group on the far right). In the main menu, the speaker configuration is 5.1.2.ch. In the kitchen, I switch on the remote control via the Quick Menu. In the kitchen, I switch on the remote control via the Quick Menu. Go down to Audio, then Enter, then down to Zone B and then select whether Zone B is off or whether A and B are on. I do not succeed in having sound only in the kitchen. rolandbaer@swissonline.ch

Yes, the amp can be used without an active subwoofer. Simply connect the subwoofer amplifier you already have to the "Subwoofer Pre-Amp" cinch connector on the Onkyo receiver.
