Samsung 990 Pro with heatsink will not fit, as the Icy Box itself acts as a heat sink. Therefore, use a Samsung 990 Pro without its own cooling device.

The enclosure is recognised like a USB stick or USB hard drive. This works with any OS. Possibly a stronger power supply is needed for the Pi so that it can deliver enough power at the USB 3.0. By the way, Icy-Box does not list Linux as a compatible OS on any of their products.
