Hi, I have this case and I've installed a 1TB Samsung M2 Nvme SSD. It's working well but I'm getting temperatures of over 50°C on the case when the case is just plugged into the laptop (switched on and working) and no data is being transferred (it's been on standby for several hours). I have another model from the same brand for M2 SATA and it hardly heats up at all. Is the case faulty or are the Nvme subject to excessive heating even without data transfer?

So I wouldn't worry about it for now. Have you looked at the temps of the ssd? If they are within the same range, everything is in the green zone. During operation, they can get as hot as 80 degrees (write process)

I use the enclosure (2 units) with WD Red 1TB and even after 8 hours of employees they only get warm by hand (not uncomfortably hot). 
At the temperatures you describe, I would actively cool the enclosure (USB fan underneath or above).
