unfortunately I did not get it to work under Ubuntu because the drivers are simply not available under Linux the universal drivers that are available under Linux did not work for me either maybe it is possible in a roundabout way but I did not manage it I think it will not be different with Mint in many Linux forums it is also reported that it does not work
I've never used it with VLC before and it doesn't make any sense to me either I find the software that comes with it rubbish useless I run it with DVBviewer but ProgDVB also runs perfectly so HBBTV is also usable with a plugin
