I have not found any option. The aspect ratio for photos seems to be limited to 4:3.
I paired my old remote, which I had used with my Hero3+, with the new Hero8 Black and was able to switch between photo, time-lapse and normal video, as well as activate the shutter release.
Conclusion: The two components are compatible.
There is a setting called „Antiflicker“ in the new GoPro where you can choose between 50 and 60Hz

can the GoPro 8 with stabilisation still record 4k60fps in ultrawide or can only the GoPro9 do that?

"With stabilisation" is written a bit loosely - yes, it can, the question is probably more with what level of stabilisation.
4K/60 with Wide works with Hypersmooth 2.0. If you want to use SuperView, only 4K/30 works with Hypersmooth 2.0 Boost.

The housing/frame is not, because it is smaller on the older Heroes (and more different underneath), the holders and mountings usually are.

Yes, this product comes with a battery. The kit includes two batteries.
A battery is included with the camera, so there is no need to buy additional accessories.
The battery of the GoPro 5 is identical in construction, so it can also be used in the GoPro8. However, the camera gives an "error message" that you should insert a battery for the GoPro8 in order to be able to use the full performance.
Unfortunately, the GoPro itself doesn't have a thread on it. Neither do the mounts, I had to buy a specific one.
In the original packaging there are :
1x 3M sticky fix
1x sticky fix-gopro adapter with fixing wheel
1x USB-C cable
1x battery
1x Gopro
The adapter is of the style: Hama Front (Headband/helmet mount, Universal)
With my iPhone7 with iOS 14.2 and the GoPro App version 7.2 (4236), the connection to my Hero 8 Black works without any problems.

If you don't know what you want to do with it, save your money. Do you also mount your national car phone on the bottom of a motorbike or on your helmet when downhilling? Probably not. That's exactly what an action camera is for. If you don't need that, you're better off with a smartphone. You don't buy a camera with interchangeable lenses if you think that your smartphone takes such great pictures.
There is no internal memory for media, you need a memory card to store media. In any case, this is the case for me.

The price of 399 seems to be well within the average market price. If you want to allude to the fact that the camera is currently available from other suppliers for as little as CHF 299.95, you are quite right.
