what is the difference between this device and the one for 839 - both have topo switzerland and european maps,i can't find the difference?

The device for 839 francs is the Edge 1030 Bundle model. With this device you can also measure your cadence and heart rate, for example.

Hello I have the Garmin 1039 with Europe and topo Switzerland. But I can't download the maps ??? What am I doing wrong ?? Thanks for the help Andy

I have the Garmin 1030 and not 1039 and have connected the device to the PC so that I can access the Swisstopo maps with Garmin Base Camp. Greetings Patric

is included. personally, i use the variant that is mounted directly in the head tube "K-Edge Garmin Gravity Cap Mount". but you have to order it separately.

According to my own research, yes, but I can't guarantee it 100% because we couldn't try it out as such :(

If you connect the Garmin Edge 1030 via USB or insert the MicroSD in the PC, you can select the topo map in Base Camp and plan with it.

You can find bike mounts for smartphones here (filter left): https://www.galaxus.ch/de/s3/producttype/velosmartphone-halter-794 PS: It might be easier to start a discussion about this in the above-mentioned category than to ask about a random product that is suitable for mountain biking. Also read the various reviews of the different products.

It depends on which version of the Topo Switzerland subscription you have. If you have version V3 or higher, it can be inserted into any compatible device. If you have an older version such as V2, then you have the right to unlock it on a second device, if you only use it on one device, you can contact Garmin to unlock it for the second device. However, the older versions are not compatible with the Edge 1030.

Are updates included with the maps or do you have to buy updates periodically? For the CHF 300 or so for the maps alone, I would actually expect an ongoing update.

Topo Switzerland does not include map updates, at least not so far...

I'm thinking of getting the part too, is it good for single trails and guiding them in the mountains and would the Garmin Topo Pro map be of any use to us Swiss?

You need 2 computers with 2 Topo Schweiz cards. To use Topo Schweiz, the microSD card must be in the computer.
