How does it work with the flipping "By simply flipping the USB-C plug, you can switch between USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 speeds" according to the description? Is it written on the adapter which side is which?

Unfortunately, I have never tested this function. USB-C female on one side, USB-A male on the other. Intuitively, I would see no reason to use a different connector with a USB 2.0 connection. In my opinion, it is automatically scaled down.
