This cable only transmits the image via HDMI and does not support audio transmission. It is only used to convert a Thunderbolt 3 or USB-C connection into an HDMI connection without offering additional functions such as sound transmission.
This is not certain. The brand recommends using Samsung TVs/screens launched after 2019. However, compatibility with DeX is not guaranteed.

The adapter can connect USB-C to HDMI. I really can't imagine that it works the other way round, it's not just a few wires, the USB-C signal has to be adapted to HDMI, for which it also has some electronics integrated in the HDMI plug (that's why it's so big and gets a bit warm) - it doesn't just work the other way round.
The long answer:
The USB-C connector on most iPads (not Air) can output a Displayport signal.
There is an active component (chip) in this cable that converts the Displayport signal into an HDMI signal.
Therefore it works.

definitely. usb type c and hdmi are technology standards that apple as well as microsoft (can) use. just consider the requirements your devices have to meet.
To determine if the Delock Thunderbolt 3 / USB Type C — HDMI (Type A) cable is compatible with your setup, here are the key points to consider:
## Compatibility with Dell S2722QC and MacBook Air M3
- The Dell S2722QC monitor supports USB Type-C connectivity, which can carry video, data, and power. However, the Delock cable you mentioned is a Thunderbolt 3 / USB Type C to HDMI (Type A) cable, which does not match the monitor's USB Type-C port for direct video and power delivery.
## Charging and Sound Delivery
- The Delock cable is designed to convert a Thunderbolt 3 or USB-C port to an HDMI port, but it does not support power delivery or audio transmission through the HDMI connection. For charging, you would need a cable that supports USB Power Delivery (PD), which the Delock cable does not provide. For sound, the Dell S2722QC has built-in speakers, but the Delock cable itself does not facilitate audio transmission.
## Current Setup
- Since you are currently using an Apple USB-C cable with your MacBook Air M2 and Dell S2722QC, and you have only two HDMI ports available, switching to the Delock cable would not be beneficial for your needs. The Apple USB-C cable is likely providing the necessary video and power connection directly to the monitor.
In summary, the Delock Thunderbolt 3 / USB Type C — HDMI (Type A) cable is not suitable for your current setup as it does not support power delivery or audio transmission, and it does not match the direct USB Type-C connectivity required by the Dell S2722QC monitor. You should continue using the Apple USB-C cable for optimal functionality.
The cable is capable of 4k/60Hz, and the MacBook 2016 should be able to drive at least one 5k / 2 4K display depending on the model (13" with / without touchbar or 15" have different graphics cards). Connected via cable, however, this is not normally mirrored by the MacBook but controlled as an additional display (or as the only one when the MacBook is closed, in which case it needs a power supply so that it does not go into sleep mode when closed and, of course, an external mouse/keyboard).
