AUTO" must be visible in the display; only then does the timer switch on and off automatically. Press the mode button until "AUTO" and "OK" are active, then press the "OK" button.
Alternatively, if you have a smartphone, you can also use such an intermediate plug and then configure switch-on schedules, or also switch on directly with the smartphone. There is a function "Automatically off again after switching on" after x minutes:

Everything remains stored. But the backup battery really doesn't last very long. So it's just good enough for a power cut. (I hope we don't have a 12-hour power cut), or to change the socket or to do the programming in a more comfortable position.
I don't know if the CH in the product designation refers to the plug. But I assume so, because it is a three-pin CH plug. There is no mention of an adapter that has to be plugged in. That would be pretty weird, because then you would need an adapter for the socket. Everything is CH standard.
