PLA melts at a relatively low temperature of about 175 degrees Celsius. In contrast to so-called thermosetting materials, PLA can be heated multiple times above its melting point with very little degradation. It is a hard material, but this also means that it is somewhat brittle, and once it breaks, it tends to shatter. This material is only proven for a layer height of 50 micrometers.
