The Power One Evolution P13 hearing aid batteries are mercury-free zinc-air button batteries. They comply with current environmental standards for hearing system batteries and meet the highest international quality requirements.

Power One Evolution is the latest hearing aid battery from Varta Microbattery and is based on the innovative TFT (Thin Foil Technology). This technology provides the cells with an even higher energy density and capacity than conventional zinc-air hearing aid batteries, promising an increased runtime of up to 15% (Type 312).

Why use zinc-air technology in hearing aid batteries? Zinc-air hearing aid batteries have a particularly high energy density and provide an almost flat discharge curve. Therefore, they are the optimal power supply, especially for hearing aids. The air holes of the battery are initially covered with a protective foil to keep them in a dormant state until needed. The self-discharge rate of zinc-air batteries with the protective foil is only about 3% per year. The foil is removed when inserting the battery into the hearing aid. After a few seconds of activation time, the battery begins to discharge. In the activated state (foil removed), zinc-air batteries have a limited shelf life and should be used as soon as possible.
