The more creative options, the more complicated the menu navigation? Not with the PEN E-PL9. The creative programs can be activated directly via the touchscreen. In Auto mode, the camera recognizes many common photographic situations – from faces to groups to movements – and automatically adjusts the optimal settings.

Of course, brightness, color, and contrast can also be adjusted manually, simply using the slider on the touchscreen. Selfie enthusiasts will love the tiltable display and the e-Portrait function, which optimizes skin tones directly in the camera.

Simplified Operating Concept

Olympus has pioneered Art Filters, and they come to life in a new way through the touchscreen. Comparing different effects has never been easier. Now, with the addition of two new filters, Bleach Bypass and Instant Film, there are 16 Art Filters available.

The latter gives photos a nostalgic touch with colors reminiscent of those produced by instant cameras in the past. In daylight, this effect appears rather subtle. When used at night with flash for capturing people, it creates a more muted image: dark areas are rendered green, and skin takes on a warm glow – nostalgic yet modern at the same time.

Quality Through Technology

What else does the E-PL9 offer to make your photos stand out from the crowd? One innovation is the image stabilization built directly into the body. This system, combined with the fast TruePic VIII image processor from Olympus's flagship camera, the OM-D E-M1 Mark II, reduces blurry shots in low light and allows the camera to choose longer shutter speeds. This leads to optimal results even under challenging conditions.
