Congratulations! Luigi has won a villa, strangely enough, in a competition he didn't even enter. Unfortunately, this grand prize is crawling with ghosts. To make matters worse, his brother Mario is trapped somewhere deep inside. With the help of the eccentric inventor Professor I. Gidd and armed with a clever device that takes care of ghosts - the Poltergust 08/16 - Luigi must bravely embark on a rescue mission. You will work your way through a villa filled with traps, solving puzzles and collecting keys to unlock entirely new areas. And if you're afraid of getting lost in the spooky mansion: you can always find your bearings on the map displayed on the touchscreen. When you encounter a ghost, surprise it with your flashlight or strobe light and then suck it up with the Poltergust 08/16. But be prepared for the spooky fellows to put up a fight. There are also tougher intruders, known as portrait ghosts, that have taken up residence in certain rooms. Each of these has its own unique personality, so it's wise to study these pesky nuisances and their surroundings closely before deciding on the best approach. Your experimental vacuum cleaner not only helps you get rid of unwanted intruders - shake the furniture to find hidden treasures, and suck up elemental coins to spray fire, water, or ice at obstacles or enemies in your way.
