Why zinc-air technology in hearing aid batteries?
Zinc-air hearing aid batteries have a particularly high energy density and offer an almost horizontal discharge curve. They are therefore the optimal power supply especially for hearing aids. The air holes of the battery are initially covered with a protective foil. This keeps it in a "resting state" until it is needed. The system-related self-discharge of zinc-air batteries with an attached protective foil is only about 3 % per year. The foil is removed when the battery is inserted into the hearing aid. After a few seconds of activation time, the battery starts to emit current. In the activated state (protective foil removed), zinc-air batteries can only be stored for a limited time and should be used as soon as possible.
