HP Location Discovery Services is the first solution that integrates rack enclosures and IT components to enable automated self-location of installed servers. HP Intelligent Series racks with the installed HP Location Discovery option provide detailed location data to ProLiant Gen8 servers, allowing for tracking of new installations and the relocation of components. During installation, the server's iLO (Integrated Lights-Out) software captures the rack ID and the exact position (in U) of the server in the rack. This information can be forwarded to other systems, such as HP Intelligent PDUs, to automatically update HP OneView and Insight Control. This saves time in configuring hardware and software for data center management and reduces the need for constant manual updates, thereby avoiding the associated human errors that can hinder troubleshooting and even lead to downtime and revenue losses.
