Filament Spectrum HIPS-X
High Impact Resistance
Spectrum HIPS-X is one of the support materials for additive manufacturing in the FDM/FFF process. It typically serves as a support for parts made of ABS, where, after the manufacturing process is complete, the HIPS-X supports are dissolved in a concentrated solution of citric acid (D-Limonene).
Additionally, Spectrum HIPS-X can be used as a base material for producing elements with reduced processing shrinkage. It is a material with high impact bending strength and compressive strength. Furthermore, it allows for achieving matte surfaces with reduced layer visibility. Similar to ABS, HIPS-X can be processed through sanding, turning, and milling.
Applications:
- Support material for ABS
- Industrial applications requiring impact-resistant components or parts with the ability for partial energy dissipation
- Initial production of conceptual models
- Packaging
Spectrum HIPS-X is a material primarily used as a support material, but it is also employed in industrial applications that require impact-resistant components or parts with the ability for partial energy dissipation. The low hardness of HIPS-X allows for its use in the arts, specifically in sculpture.
