Intelligently designed reflex openings that allow for optimized airflow ensure clean and deep bass reproduction without compression or noise from the reflex port. Combined with Genelec's Directivity Control Waveguide (DCW) design, the rounded edges of the Minimum Diffraction Enclosure (MDE), and the gently shaped front and side panels, this results in an astonishingly wide and even frequency response both on-axis and off-axis. The outcome is an extremely precise stereo image and playback that leads to less listener fatigue.
Carefully designed steep crossover filters direct the signal to very low-distortion drivers specifically developed for amplifiers. Magnetic shielding, an overload protection circuit, and versatile acoustic controls are standard features of the 8040B.
Each 8040B comes with an Iso-Pod (Isolation Positioner/Decoupler) tabletop stand that eliminates sound coloration by decoupling the speaker from the surface it stands on. The Iso-Pod also allows for easy alignment of the speaker's acoustic axis to the listener. For other placement options, the back of the 8040B is equipped with threaded mounts for wall or ceiling installations, and there is a 10 mm thread in the base for floor stands.
