Product details

Load equalizer for 24V lead-acid battery systems with a 3A balancing current. The problem is well-known: Two 12V batteries are connected in series to form a 24V system. During charging, due to slightly different capacities or states of charge, both batteries are not charged equally well. One becomes overcharged while the other is not fully charged.

The consequences are:

  • Sulfation of the battery that was never fully charged
  • Drying out or severe oxidation of the overcharged battery

The solution is a load equalizer. The equalizer measures the total voltage of the 24V system and calculates the average. If the voltage of an individual battery deviates from the average, a balancing current flows until the battery voltages are equalized. This is only executed when the total voltage is above 26V, meaning the battery is being charged. This increases the lifespan of the batteries and, thanks to better charging, also enhances the overall capacity.

Typical applications include:

  • Trucks and buses
  • Cleaning machines and electric wheelchairs and mobility scooters
  • Anywhere two 12V batteries are connected in series.
