The Mavic 2 Zoom is primarily designed to get close to the action. It features a camera with optical zoom, which is also unusual for drones. The focal length range is 24 to 48 millimeters, with an additional digital zoom up to 96 millimeters. Nine photos can be automatically stitched together into a single 48-megapixel image. Thanks to its zoom capability, the Mavic 2 Zoom can also create an effect known as a dolly zoom. DJI calls its enhanced subject tracking system ActiveTrack 2.0. It not only utilizes the main camera but also incorporates the two vision sensors for calculations, allowing it to create a 3D model, whereas its predecessor was limited to two dimensions. A flight path prediction helps keep the Mavic on its trajectory, even when the view of the subject is temporarily obstructed. Collision avoidance sensors are located not only at the front and back but also underneath and on the sides. DJI has also reportedly improved the pilot assistance system, which detects obstacles early. Helpful in the dark is the LED light that shines downward. Another very useful feature for flying is a flight information system that automatically keeps the drone away from restricted areas like airports. The drone has 8 GB of built-in storage in case all memory cards are full or malfunctioning.
