Defender® 2DM Modular System, wheelchair accessible

For optimal wheelchair crossing, the modular cable bridge Defender® 2D M Blue has been developed based on our popular Defender® MIDI cable bridge. It consists of a central section compatible with MIDI and a flat ramp, which can be expanded and combined in any way, both in length and width. This is achieved with extremely simple handling.

In recent years, the issue of accessibility has increasingly come into focus for event organizers and authorities. With conventional cable bridge systems, a compromise often had to be made between wheelchair accessibility and drivability. The new Defender® 2D M changes that: a fully traversable and wheelchair-accessible ramp with a 6° incline is attached to each central section. The load capacity of the ramp matches that of the central section, amounting to approximately 5 tons per 25 x 30 cm area. The flat incline significantly eases access for wheelchair users, as it prevents the footrests from hitting the ramp. Additionally, crossing the cable bridges with forklifts and trucks becomes much simpler.

The completely symmetrical design of the ramps facilitates assembly, and you will never have to search for the right attachment part again. The parts are multidirectionally usable, with no right or left elements. Detailed assembly plans are also unnecessary. Thanks to this symmetry, optimal stability in both longitudinal and transverse directions can be achieved by laying out central sections and ramps in a half-bond pattern, while avoiding losses such as adapters and connectors. The connections have been designed to provide enough play for easy assembly while still offering sufficient stability. For instance, the longitudinal connection of the ramps consists merely of a small projection that locks in place with pressure from above.
