They do still exist, the cameras up to 500 euros. However, the selection is limited and you have to be prepared to go back one or two model generations and look around for cameras, some of which were launched in 2019. Some of these old treasures are still available from specialist and online retailers - and at a fraction of the price that was originally asked for the models...

Canon has cut back on the continuous shooting speed and video: Here, the autofocus employees the slower contrast measurement. Somewhat annoying: the display cannot be folded or swivelled.
The low price seems to have been a key criterion for the developers of the Canon EOS R100. This goal has been achieved, as the compact and very light R100 with its 600 euro kit price actually marks a very favourable entry into the mirrorless R system. Of course, there are a few things you have to do without with the R100...
