Active Optical HDMI Cables (AOC) utilize fiber optic technology to transmit the digital HDMI signal. This means that the signal can be transmitted much further than with a conventional copper cable (up to 100 m) and the risk of EMI/RFI interference is reduced. HDMI AOC cables also feature their own copper conductors inside, eliminating the need for an external power supply.
