Gray filters creative through less light Gray filters, also known as ND (neutral density) filters or neutral density filters, block the entire visible spectrum evenly and thus lead to a reduction in light without affecting colors and contrast. Since they simultaneously block UV radiation, the additional use of a UV blocking filter is unnecessary.... A gray filter must also often be used to reduce the depth of field wide open. However, the strength of the effect in this application depends on the focal length of the lens. They also allow "normal" time and aperture values if the film speed is too high for the prevailing brightness. Gray Filter: 110Filter Factor: 1000F-stops: 10Density (ND): 3.0 B+W Gray Filter 110: With ten stops of light reduction, this gray filter brings an increase over the previous one (also a somewhat stronger warm tone). Main application is observation and documentation of industrial processes at extreme brightness (melting furnaces, filaments in halogen and other lamps, combustion processes).
