AudioQuest's carbon-based 3-layer noise-dissipation system (NDS) is being added to the USB models Carbon, Coffee, and Diamond. Typical cable shielding systems absorb and direct noise and RF energy to the component ground, modulating and distorting the critical "reference" grounding level. The application of metal- and carbon-loaded synthetic materials in the NDS "protects the shield" by absorbing and reflecting most of this energy before it reaches the layer connected to the component ground. This reduces distortion and enhances sonic performance.
