XTC-3D offers an alternative method for post-processing to achieve a more uniform and smoother surface on 3D-printed objects. XTC-3D is a coating made from a special liquid that fills in the fine grooves created by 3D printing, resulting in a smooth surface for the objects. The liquid epoxy resin is prepared by mixing the two components and is applied with a brush (pot life is approximately 10 minutes). XTC-3D can be applied very sparingly (for example, 30 grams is sufficient for about 645 cm²) and spreads evenly over the surface without leaving visible brush strokes. The drying time is about four hours. Once cured, XTC-3D provides a hard and impact-resistant surface that can be sanded, primed, and painted over. Commercial color pigments or metallic effect powders can also be added to the still liquid epoxy resin. The XTC-3D coating can be used for post-processing SLA and SLS prints, as well as PLA, ABS, Laywood, and almost all other solid materials.
