Question about Berenstargh Ni-Mh battery

Do I need to make sure that the charger for these batteries is compatible with 2700mAh? Unfortunately, I can't find a good selection of battery chargers at Digitec? The package also said that the batteries are already charged and ready to use, but unfortunately this is not the case. Does that mean the batteries are too old? Or even broken?
