Mechanical keyboards are my great passion. In the series «Keycap Kevin», I’m experimenting with various techniques to beautify keyboards. Today’s experiment: My first attempt at anodising aluminium.
Many of my mechanical keyboards are made of aluminium. Most of them come with a protective oxide layer, achieved in a process called anodising. At the same time, they’re often dyed in various colours or shades of grey. I’ve always wanted to know how this works, so I’m giving it a go myself. It’s a highly complex process, so I don’t explain it in detail in the video. If you’d like to find out about it, I recommend reading the manufacturer's user manual.
