Galaxus adds new report button for suspicious products
As of today, you’ll find a «Report product» button on every Galaxus product page. By clicking it, you’ll be able to flag any products that you think are in violation of the law. Potential concerns include safety issues, counterfeit products and copyright infringements.
There are certain products on our shop that we’d rather get rid of. Products that don’t meet our standards because they’re in violation of the law and/or our policies. Some might not be safe enough, while others might infringe on copyright or trademark rights. Our co-founder Oliver Herren broke down the challenge this presents in a recent article. In response, we received some heavy criticism from the Community. At the same time, some Community members reached out with offers of help.

This is partly why we’ve added a «Report product» button to each product page, allowing you to flag products you suspect are breaking the law. You need to be logged in for the button to be displayed.

We’re stepping up to the plate
At the same time, we’re doing our best to give you as little reason as possible to click «Report product». Since we’ve come across an increased number of non-compliant products in recent months, we’re cracking down on the situation:
- We’re carrying out more stringent, systematic checks across major product categories, such as toys.
- We’ve doubled the number of spot checks on merchants and suppliers. From now on, they’ll need to deliver watertight proof that their products comply with Swiss law.
- In early September, we wrote to all of our merchants and suppliers to remind them of the legal requirements and Galaxus policies that apply to them. In the future, we’ll take tougher action against violations by temporarily removing certain products from our website or terminating partnerships.
- We’ve tasked two teams of eleven employees to focus exclusively on making sure our range meets our standards.
However, people who deliberately set out to circumvent our security checks will still find a way to do so in future. Unfortunately, that’s the fact of the matter.
That’s why we’re also counting on your know-how. If you come across a product that seems amiss, reporting it will help us and any customers who might otherwise have been duped by it. Several reports submitted by the Community via the button have already helped us to remove non-compliant products and, in one case, block an entire brand’s access to the shop.
How to report a product
Once you’re logged in, you’ll find the button on every product page, underneath the product details section. If you want to file a complaint, simply click on it and select the relevant category. You can also submit a brief description of what you’ve noticed if you like. Once you’ve filed your complaint, our experts will investigate it. This process involves everything from visual assessments to document reviews to lab tests.
Unsure where to go with your concerns?
- Do you have an issue with an order, a product warranty, a return or a delivery? If so, Galaxus Assistant will be able to help.
- Have you noticed inaccurate information on a product page (missing dimensions, wrong colour, incomplete specs)? If so, open the specifications section of the relevant product page and click «Edit product specifications». This allows you to suggest specific corrections, but there’s also a free-text box for information that doesn’t fit elsewhere on the form, for example, if a product image is incorrect.
- Do you think a certain product violates any laws or our guidelines? If so, hitting the «Report product» is the right call.

What do you think of our new «Report product» button? Is there anything we can do to improve it? Feel free to let us know in the comments. Our developers will be reading your feedback.
