HP CR324A
HP CR324A
First, let me clarify: Yes, the problem "printhead missing, damaged, or not recognised" is a built-in "predetermined breaking point" and is triggered after so and so many print processes (or when using third-party ink, or ...). Nothing new - HP has a tool that removes the lock in about 2 seconds. If you are lucky, you will find it on the net together with some viruses and trojans - but the error will come back until the original print head is removed - then the 'old' ones will work again (see others here). Question: Has anyone had success with this head who had previously tried the 'service code method' (software reset)?
It occurred to me today: One would have to test whether one can 'trick' the system by exchanging used print heads. Experience reports (also here) from people who were able to use the OLD head again after inserting a new one suggest that it could work. In other words, the system is not 'smart enough' to recognise an old print head. This could mean that the difference between a 'new' and an 'other' (old) one is not recognised either :-))
I had the same problem with the printer head at the beginning of the year, from one hour to the next I had the error message. HP didn't want to know about it and couldn't sell me a new print head, so I was told to buy a new printer, which I did, but it didn't have the same functions as the 8620.
By chance I saw this printer head here on Digitec, bought it, installed it and everything was back to normal. From my point of view, the investment of CHF 120 was absolutely justified, but the CHF 105 for the proposed printer from HP was an absolute mistake.
The following procedure worked today on my Officejet pro 8620 (2016): Open the cover, leave the carriage in the change position, remove the power, remove the print head and clean the contacts with alcohol. As the black cartridge was practically empty, I replaced it at the same time. Lo and behold, after inserting it and switching it on, the message "original print cartridge inserted" appeared again and the printhead message disappeared! I think replacing a cartridge at the same time has tricked the system, as 2 x before only cleaning the head/inserting a new one did not help.
I also had this problem this year: The first time it was enough to clean the print head thoroughly with nozzle cleaner (https://www.youtube.com/watch), unfortunately I only found the corresponding cleaning agent at pearl. The second time I had to replace the print head with this product and everything works like new.
