Yes, the enclosure is compatible with the PNY CS1030 as long as it is in M.2 2280 format. The model supports NVMe SSDs with M-Key connection and USB-C 3.1 Gen 2. Compatibility depends on the physical format of the SSD - the CS1030 must have one of the supported lengths (2230/2242/2260/2280). If the SSD is in 2280 format (the most common size), it will work fine. To be sure, you should check that your specific CS1030 variant uses the correct length and NVMe standard. Note: The information is based on the manufacturer's data for the housing. For the SSD, the compatibility was derived indirectly via the form factor and interface specifications, as the CS1030 is not explicitly mentioned in the sources.

The WD SN850X SSD is compatible with the IB-1817M-C31 enclosure because it supports the M.2 2280 form factor, which is one of the sizes the enclosure accommodates. The enclosure is designed for M.2 NVMe SSDs, and the WD SN850X is an M.2 NVMe SSD, making it suitable for use with this enclosure.

The IB-1817M-C31 from Icy Box supports a PCIe 3.0 x2 interface for the SSD. You cannot operate a PCIe 5.0 SSD at full speed with this device, as the maximum support is PCIe 3.0 x2 and the speed is therefore limited to up to 10 Gbit/s (or about 1000 MB/s).

Well, the M.2 form factor standard that supports 2 interface protocols (SATA and PCI-E)... More on the topic here: https://www.kingston.com/de/blog/pc-performance/two-types-m2-vs-ssd In fact, this ICY box is not suitable because it has an M.2 PCI-E interface. If you set the filter "Storage form factor" to M.2 2280 and the filter "Protocol" to AHCI (Sata) on the product page https://www.digitec.ch/de/s1/producttype/festplattengehaeuse-35, you will receive 10 suitable product suggestions for your HP SSD. For example, this Transcend case: Transcend SSD Conversion Kit (M.2 2280, M.2 2242, M.2 2260) with USB-C interface.

You simply take the Samsung 980 Pro without a heat sink. You can also get it in this case, because it takes over the function as a heat sink. So you don't have to worry. https://raidsonic-static-content.s3.eu-central-1.amazonaws.com/IcyBox/Files/manual_IB-1817M-C31_Web.pdf

Hello Psyarel92, I myself have installed a Samsung 970 Evo (500 GB) and this works without any problems. Your SSD works with the AHCI protocol and not NVMe so I think this is not quite compatible. My recommendation: If 520 MB/s is enough for you: Icy Box IB-183WP-C31 (M.2 2230, M.2 2242, M.2 2260, M.2 2280) If you need the faster speeds: Samsung 970 EVO (1000GB, M.2 2280) PS: The 970 EVO is currently even 4.- cheaper than the 860 EVO (both 1TB). Greetings and all the best xkukurusa

I don't quite understand the question: If you have an NVMe port in your PC, you can clone your HDD/SSD directly to it. You don't need the enclosure for that. However, you can clone any HDD/SSD there if it is connected as a USB drive.

I have tested a Samsung NVMe MZVLW1T0C, which runs without any problems. This is a PM961 1TB version, which is closely related to Samsung's consumer models. I don't have your 980 PRO available. A Toshiba THNSN5512GPUK_NVMe also runs without problems in the case. What exactly are the problems you mentioned? LG Michael

The enclosure simply makes an M.2 SSD available as a USB drive. So if the PC can accommodate the "naked" M.2 SSD afterwards, then that's quite possible - that was exactly the purpose why I bought this enclosure! I have been using the free software "Macrium Reflect" and "EaseUs Partition Master" to clone+enlarge my SSDs with the C: partition for some time now - so far it has always worked without any problems. However, it is a good idea to temporarily stick the metal plate supplied onto the SSD (be careful not to produce any short circuits!), because the SSD gets quite hot during cloning.
