Yes, there is one. The SilentWings are much quieter than the PureWings, come better decoupled and with alternative suspensions. Having previously used SilentWings 2 (min and without PWM) and now SW3 (with PWM), I would advise you to use the versions without PWM if possible, even if this may allow less fine control. You can hear a very quiet clacking noise up close which is not there with non-PWM fans. This is a general thing with PWM fans as far as I understand.

Hi, PC fans are operated with 12V, so you definitely need a 12V power supply. However, this fan is PWM (pulse width modulation) controlled, which means that PIN4 of the connector must be supplied with 5V to provide 100% fan power. If you want less power, the signal must be modulated accordingly. The simplest solution for this fan would be an external PWM fan controller (e.g. Noctua NA-FC1), or you can use a fan without PWM, which can then usually be influenced by voltage regulation (12V=100%). The SilentWings 3 is also available without PWM, 5V from a USB power supply would bring a correspondingly lower performance, but it would work. You can find more on the subject on wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_fan_control#Pulse-width_modulation).

There is no general answer to this question. The decisive factor is your intended use. A SilentWings 3 (140mm) cools my PC perfectly and quietly. I also have 3 smaller SW (120mm) and an AIO water cooling system. Result: extreme OC works perfectly in my particular case so far. The overall setup of all fans with knowledge of the airflow generated as a whole is IMPOSSIBLE. If necessary, seek professional help and then select the fans!
