Will a 17 inch laptop fit in here without any problems?

I don't think so, I use a MBP 15" and a Tablet 12" and they fit OK (two separated compartments) , However the space is a little bit tight. The backpack is made for 15"
Also depends on the brand of the computer. if it slim enough I think you can push a little bit to fit in
