Why does this printer have such relatively poor ratings? What are the disadvantages?

The printer is OK. Ink consumption is normal. Like everywhere else, this is part of the money-making department. The worst way out is to buy a pigment printer. It is not worth it just because of the longer shelf life. The prices for pigment inks make the Canon cash register smile. I tried everything and ended up with the 200 model. As a professional photographer, my demands on a print are not modest.

I have been the owner of a PIXMA Pro-200 for just over a month as a replacement for a 12 year old PIXMA Pro 9000 Mark II.
The print results so far are, in my opinion, very good. It goes without saying that calibrating the printer with suitable hardware and software is part of a high-quality print result. Rolf Eicher

My main criticism would be the ink price! With an average of CHF 20 per cartridge and a filling volume of less than 13 ml, it quickly adds up to quite a lot, depending on the print volume of course. Since I mainly print in A3+, this, together with the paper, is not exactly cheap. Otherwise, I find the prints in black and white or colour completely sufficient for my needs.
