Question about Caran d'Ache Sharpening machine

We have had our sharpener for around 2 years. At some point, it no longer sharpened properly but with a slightly broken tip. No matter how long you turn it. We have already turned the adjusting screw in both directions, but neither helps. Is this normal or does it have to be like this? Kind regards

It is likely that the compartment is dirty, this could be the only reason, I have only been using it for a short time and I have not experienced this problem

Perhaps there is a remnant of a broken mine between the rollers.
