Unfortunately, the Wifi setup via printer and also via software does not work for me, I am at a loss: on the one hand I try to connect the WIFI directly via input on the printer display. It also finds my WLAN. After entering the password and waiting forever for the connection, I cancelled. Unfortunately, the whole thing doesn't work via software either - I start the Brother software (I select "Complete software package" from Brother support). I have connected the printer to the PC (PC in LAN) via printer cable. During the network search via cable, it finds my WLAN. However, it also fails there with the message "Connection to network failed". I use a Sunrise router and have a mesh system (Deco) active. All clients, regardless of type, can connect to it without any problems. The 2.4 GHZ and 5 GHz network is activated. I have also reset the network on the printer. Even with WPS (only tried via Mesh via app) it doesn't work. Does anyone know of another option to get this working?

Hello,

I understand the situation well - the Brother DCP-1612WVB can occasionally have problems with mesh systems such as the Deco devices, especially if the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks use the same name (SSID).

Try the following

Temporarily create a pure 2.4 GHz network
Open the Deco app, go to Wi-Fi Settings and create a second network that only uses the 2.4 GHz band (you can call it "House_24GHz", for example).
Then select this network on the printer and enter the password.
This step often solves the problem as the DCP-1612WVB only supports 2.4 GHz.

Configuration via USB cable (alternative method)
Connect the printer to the PC via USB cable.
Open the Brother software package ("Full Driver & Software Package"), select Wireless Setup via USB and select the 2.4 GHz WLAN.
The software automatically transfers the WLAN settings to the printer.

Check the router settings

Deactivate any MAC filters.
Make sure that the SSID is visible (not hidden).
If WPS does not work via the Deco app, deactivate it and carry out the configuration manually.

Restart
After setup, restart the printer, router and Deco system.
Then check in the Deco app whether the printer appears in the list of connected devices.

Greetings Pietro

For me it worked straight away with the WPS button on the router and then on the printer. Can't help with anything else :(

try forcing a fixed ip address for the printer in your router
