Aten US3342
Aten US3342
The manufacturer (ATEN) titles the device "2-Port USB-C Gen 2 Sharing Switch with Power Pass-through". So could I connect the ATEN to the input of a Lenovo dock and the power supplied from the dock is passed through to the 2 laptops attached to the ATEN? Or is there only power to the input devices when a power supply is attached to the ATEN? https://www.aten.com/eu/en/products/usb-&-thunderbolt/peripheral-switches/us3342/
Attention: No power supply unit is included with the US3342. Personally, I would only connect laptops with the corresponding docking station / port replicator and the respective power supply unit. The US3342 is then supplied with power from the docking station on port 1.
OK, that's helpful. But the switch has to be supplied with power for this? My question is more along the lines of: I would connect a docking station to the switch instead of a laptop and then connect the laptop to the switch (so the switch is in between).
Does the laptop then get power from the docking station ABOVE the switch in between or does the switch also need power?
If not, I could save the extra power cable for the Switch and the laptop could get power from the docking station via the Switch. That's how I would understand pass-through.
That might be a bit too exotic and would have to be clarified with the manufacturer?
Out of two connected laptops, only one is charged (see screenshot on the back, port marked with battery sign).
