The description says: Power supply . . . . Battery operation, mains operation I have already returned devices that were incorrectly labelled as "battery-operated", which were in fact back-up batteries for the memory. Question: can this device be operated without a mains connection, i.e. in battery mode?

The "Moment (FM, DAB+, Bluetooth)" device from Pure cannot be operated entirely on battery power without a mains connection. The battery, a CR2032 button cell, is only used as an emergency battery to continue to operate the alarm clock in the event of a power failure, but only with a continuous beep and not for full operation of the radio or the display.
