Sorry, I got lost. You can connect two source devices to the switch and use one monitor.
In this case, the product is the wrong one anyway.

Yes and no.
You can connect two monitors with the product, but you can only use one of them actively at a time.
This product is a switch and you can use it to switch between two monitors.

If you want to use two monitors simultaneously as a work surface, then your notebook must have two video outputs.
For example:
1x HDMI and 1x VGA
or
1x HDMI and 1x DVI

Does your notebook only have one video output?
