Question about Canon Speedlite 430EX III-RT

It is clear that the 430EX III-RT can be used as a master. Question: Is it possible to use it as a master WITHOUT it triggering a flash itself, i.e. only sending the triggering signal to another separately installed flash (same model)? This would be a considerable restriction if flashes were always forced to be fired from the direction of the camera...
