Is this unit also suitable as a "replacement" for a sound bar when used via a TV ?

Yes, the unit has a digital optical input with which you can connect the TV to the R5. However, unlike a classic TV bar, the R5 does not switch on automatically when you switch on the TV. On the other hand, it has a built-in DAB+, FM and Internet radio, CD, player, Bluetooth etc.
