I can't answer your question directly, but I've connected the screen to four different devices now, including a laptop from 2015 and a desktop computer from 2016. Downloading drivers does, even with USB cables other than the one supplied. But USB-C and USB-C really works best. Otherwise, choose the USB 3.1 port where you can charge the smartphone best/fastest. At the moment, the screen is connected to an older USB hub (with power supply) - it doesn't like it (error message), but it still works. Conclusion: very robust as far as the connection is concerned. Otherwise a good product.
More exotic things, like connecting it to a smartphone (I wanted to know if that works - would be funny) have not worked so far. But most of the time it works without problems.
But the screen is really nothing more than that - an additional screen ...There are cheaper products that do the same. But they are not portable.
