Is this cable bidirectional, ie. does hdmi > mini dp work?

The 3m variant explicitly states that it only works in the direction mini DP -> HDMI.
I am also looking for hdmi -> mini dp to use the iMac as an additional screen.

Unfortunately, I can't answer that.
I only use the cable in one direction. Mini Displayport > HDMI
